Beach Lodges at night

Accessible Lodge

The accessible Lodge sleeps up to five guests.

Our accessible Lodge is suitable for assisted, weight-bearing wheelchair and mobility aid users. The design of our accessible Lodge is much like the other 23 Lodges except for a few features that give easier access and use of the space.

What’s the same?

The accessible Lodge has a mezzanine floor comprising a double and small single bed. As with our other Lodges these beds are at floor level. The steps up to the mezzanine level are paddle steps and are fairly steep.

There is a double pull-out bed on the ground floor, as well as a kitchenette with a hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle and toaster, (there is NO oven in the lodge) , which mirrors the design in our other Lodges.

There is a wide tri-fold door that opens to a deck, and additional ventilation is provided by windows at the mezzanine level.

What’s different?

The accessible Lodge sleeps up to five guests (maximum four adults). The single bed downstairs has been removed to make way for a wet-room style shower room with hand rails and shower seat provided.

External access to the Lodge is by a series of ramps. Please note, the distance by ramped access from the promenade is approximately 80 metres via a steep ramp.

Heating in the main body of the Lodge is provided by a plinth heater built into the kitchenette.

Access to the site

Due to the nature of our location, access to the Lodges can be challenging. Below is a guide to arriving on site, but we recommend you contact the team on 01202 126127 to discuss your requirements ahead of your stay.

Please note that access and parking will be affected by Bournemouth Air Festival in August and Bournemouth Marathon Festival in October. Access and parking arrangements will be confirmed before your stay.

Vehicular access to the beach level in front of the Lodges can be gained at the following times by driving along the promenade from Boscombe Pier. Please keep your hazard lights on and your speed below 10mph. We kindly ask that you are considerate to any Beach Hut users and park on the beach side of the promenade, away from any occupied huts.

Beach Lodges

Check-out is between 8:00am and 10:00am on the date of departure. Should you need to leave early we kindly ask you to inform a member of the Beach Lodges team.

The closest parking to the Lodges is on Boscombe Overcliff Drive next to the Manor Steps Zig Zag (BH5 1JB). Here, there is free on-road parking and it is a short journey down to the Lodges via the zig zag slope. However, the path to the Beach Lodges from the overcliff is not DDA-compliant due to its gradient.

Alternatively, we can provide a permit for free parking at the Undercliff Car Park (BH5 1BN) to the west of Boscombe Pier, approximately 1km from the Lodges. Unlimited complimentary Land Train travel is included in your stay, so you can catch the Land Train from Boscombe Pier or Toft Steps Zig Zag to the Lodges. The train is wheelchair accessible (and dog-friendly!) and operates subject to weather conditions and season. Please contact the Beach Lodges Team for more details.

We are here to help you get the most out of your stay at the Lodges. If you’d like to discuss your access requirements, or any other details ahead of your stay, please contact the Beach Lodges Team.
